Art and Product Photography
What I photograph
I have photographed the following things:
- Products for sale on, for example, Amazon
- Metal work
That said, I will happily photograph any inanimate object. I enjoy the technical challenge of lighting and capturing an image that truthfully represents a given object. If you have a question about whether I can work with an object that you want photographed, please ask me via the Contact link on the navigation panel to the left .
Where I work
I work either in my studio at 3308 Durham Chapel Hill Blvd, Durham, NC 27707, or on location.
For location work, I charge $.30/mile for a location more than 20 miles from my studio.
In the studio, I work with daylight balanced LED lights and a monitor tethered to my camera.
On location I can replicate my studio setup although some of my larger LED lights may sometime be difficult to transport.
Product photography rates
Exclusive of travel, I charge $50/hr for product photography. My time begins when I start shooting and ends when I finish. I do not charge for set up time.
For this fee, I photograph your objects with a Sony a7riii (a high resolution, mirrorless camera) and appropriate prime lenses.
Usually some post processing of captured images is needed. I charge $25/hour for post processing. I commit to charging for no more than one half of the time I spend shooting for my post processing. E.g., for a studio session of 2 hours my charge for post processing will not exceed $25.
What I deliver
After a studio session and my post processing, I deliver
- High resolution JPG photos of the objects photographed. These are electronic files that are the result of my post priocessing and are are immediately useable in print or on the web.
- unedited RAW files that were the basis of the JPGs. These provide an archival record and are useful if additional editing is needed.
